Daniel has two decades of experience in the mining sector, combining senior in-house roles with external advisory work on mining transactions and project development. At BHP, he led legal teams supporting global mineral exploration, as well as projects and commercial matters in the Americas.

His practice spans the mining cycle, from early-stage exploration through construction and commissioning. He regularly advises international clients on acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, exploration agreements and commercial contracts. His clients include mining companies, streaming and royalty companies, metal traders, mining service providers, and engineering and construction firms. Much of his work is cross-border.

Since 2023, Daniel has served as a member of the Civil Society Advisory Council of Chile’s Ministry of Mining and, since 2024, as its President. He is also a Trustee-at-Large of The Foundation for Natural Resources and Energy Law for 2026–2027.

He rejoined Morales & Besa in 2025.
