EUGENIO BESA J-H. Partner
He has broad experience in all aspects of commercial, corporate, financing, taxation and foreign investment matters. His legal practice covers a broad range of banking and project finance transactions, including syndicated bank credit facilities, structured finance, leasing, project finance and debt securities.
He has acted as lead Chilean counsel for the concessionaire and sponsor group in a number of bond offerings placed locally and outside of Chile for the financing of infrastructure projects, each of which was wrapped by a monoline insurer. He was involved in all stages of the negotiations and documentation, and was responsible for all filings with the government authorities. He has also broad transactional and regulatory experience, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures and privatizations.
He has acted as project counsel in the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas regasification plant in the central region of Chile. Mr. Besa was formerly with KPMG Peat Marwick where he practiced for approximately two years in the taxation area. He is an active member of both the Chilean-French and the Chilean-British Chambers of Commerce.
He has co-authored " Public Works Concessions in Chile ", published in The International Construction Law Review, 1998.
