Cecilia Belmar, Senior Associate
Ms Belmar is the head of the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Morales & Besa. She concentrates her practice in a wide range of IP matters including the initial phase of creation and design, registration of IP, negotiation and drafting of licensing agreements and IP litigation, especially defense. She has extensive experience in proceedings before the courts and administrative bodies in all kinds of actions and proceedings aimed at enforcing the IP rights, privileges and interests of our clients, and has extensively advised both national and international clients in connection with their IP management systems, rules and mandatory procedures for the due protection of their IP assets, designs and projects of our clients, transfer of technology, as well as the protection of industrial and business secrets.
Since 2001 she has specialized in the technical and legal advisory relating to invention patents, utility models, industrial designs and drawings, state of the art search and technology intelligence "TI", to identify and classify technical-scientific information, business opportunities analysis and/or risk of interference with third parties. Also, she has been actively engaged representing universities and technology centers in their bidding efforts to raise public funding for innovation and R&D.
Cecilia graduated from the Law School of the Catholic University of Chile in 1992. In 1997 she obtained a degree on "Economics and Finance for Attorneys" from the Department of Economics of the Universidad de Chile Business School. In 1998, Cecilia obtained a Graduate of Invention Patents by the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universidad de Santiago, and in 2008 obtained a Masters in Business Administration from the Universidad de Chile Business School.
Before joining our firm, Cecila Belmar worked with Clarke Modet & Co and in the National Institute of Industrial Property INAPI.
She is a member of the Bar Association, and the Chilean Association of Intellectual Property (ACHIPI)
